Weekly Activity (Day 1) Activity 3

No Girls Allowed

During the ancient Olympic Games, men were allowed to compete in the events but women were not. In fact, women were often forbidden from even watching the games. In your opinion, is this a fair rule? Why or why not? On your blog please tell us what you think about this interesting rule.

Answer: My opinion is that I think this is actually unfair because women and men are equally the same and it is really not fair that women don't get to watch them because what if someone in their family goes to the Olympics but they can't watch them play.

  1. I completely agree with you, Courtney! I think that both men and women should have the same opportunities to participate in important events like the Olympic games. They should also be treated with the same amount of respect and on the same equal footing.

Fortunately, the modern day Olympic committee has recognised this and they allow both men and women to compete in the games. I'm already looking forward to watching our Olympic athletes compete in Rio. I wonder how many medals that they will win. What do you think?

    Cheers, Rachel
